Six dealerships in South Carolina are suing Reynolds and Reynolds right now because a single manager at one store signed a 66 month DMS extension and somehow that bound five other affiliated stores that never agreed to it. These stores had been with Reynolds since 1986. Their old deal wasn't even set to expire until April 2027. Someone locked them into over five extra years without the other ownership groups signing off.
I read that and immediately went and pulled our own DMS agreement to check who has signing authority on our side. Most GMs have no idea what's buried in these contracts or who at the store level is actually authorized to bind the whole group. If you have more than one rooftop under a holding company, this is worth an afternoon of your time this week.
Let guess - The DMS provider…
Let guess - The DMS provider is Reynolds & Reynolds :)
