At some point the narrative that Ford's recall volume is a sign of "proactive quality management" stops being defensible. We are looking at a year where they could exceed their own record, with a meaningful chunk of those being repeat recalls on vehicles that were supposedly already fixed. Twenty-seven percent of their 2025 campaigns were re-recalls. That is not proactiveness. That is a repair process that is not working. I have been on the manufacturing side long enough to know that repeat recalls signal something deeper than a parts problem. They signal a verification and closure process that lacks accountability. Somebody is signing off on repairs that are not actually complete. And the answer we keep getting publicly is that high recall counts mean Ford is paying attention. No. High re-recall counts mean Ford fixed it wrong the first time and had to go back. Those are very different things and the industry press treats them like they are the same.
